Jordan condemns Israeli fanatics' intrusion into the Aqsa Mosque

AMMAN, (PIC)-- Jordan on Wednesday condemned the recent Israeli fanatics' intrusion into the Aqsa Mosque's plazas and the assault on one of the Mosque's guards.

The royal committee for Quds affairs and for maintenance of the Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock warned of repeating such storming and refused the Israeli claim that the step was a kind of tourism.

The committee said that the Jordanian government was holding official contacts to prevent the recurrence of such an intrusion.

Two Aqsa guards, all working for the Jordanian government, were arrested in the scuffle that took place during the storming, but were released later.

For its part, the Islamic Awkaf department in occupied Jerusalem denounced the Israeli police's decision to impose a financial penalty on those two guards and to ban them from approaching the Aqsa for a week.

It also condemned the Israeli police's order to Nasser Kuwaider, the head of the morning shift of the Aqsa guards, not to report to duty for 15 days.

The Awkaf said that the decisions fell in line with the Israeli "oppressive" campaign against the holy Aqsa Mosque aimed at isolating it and leaving it without any real protection to allow "Zionist extremists to control it".
